Peat moss - Eriophorum angustifolium
On the Dwingelderveld meadowlarks bloom. A mystical atmosphere is created when a layer of mist hangs over the water. Peat moss is characterized during and after flowering by the long white hairs of 3-5 cm in the inflorescence. This consists of 5 to 8 spikes with about 50 flowers per spike. The spikes are a few cm long. Because the spikes have differently long stems of none to 8 cm, the striking hairy inflorescence is quite exuberant. It is a species of wet vegetation.
